Rural landscapes: the trail to spring

THE LAST OF WINTER’S SNOW, KNEEHILL COUNTY, ALBERTA

I spotted these abandoned western Canadian prairie buildings from the road and pulled off to investigate. Finding the sculpted snow was a huge bonus that, to my eyes, took this scene to an entirely new artistic level. Then it was just a matter of balancing the very bright snow with the much darker prairie landscape.
