DAWN AT LAC BEAUVERT, JASPER NATIONAL PARK, ALBERTA
Compelling photo opportunities are pretty much everywhere in this western Canadian park, with many lakes near the town of Jasper itself. This is one of them. I arrived when it was extremely dark and bided my time with some long sky exposures until the light increased enough to make compositions like this. As is often the case, the scene was made more interesting with someone in it; that’s why I almost always wear bright red on my photo trips; it shows up very well if I need to put me in the picture. Nikon D7100, tripod, polarizing filter, graduated density (darkening) filter on the sky
