Urban landscapes: the dark and dusky day

HOLY TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH, NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO

I remembered seeing this church, set in a very complementary landscape, several years earlier so, on a recent visit to Niagara Falls, I tracked it down and was blessed to photography it during “blue hour”.
I liked using the Celtic cross to balance the church as a second visual highlight, but knew it needed to “pop” out of the picture. So I used a small flashlight I keep just for moments like this and, during the looong 20-second exposure, I “painted” the cross with light. Worked pretty well, eh? 🙂
Nikon D7100, tripod, graduated density (darkening) filter on the sky.
