Rural landscapes: beauty on the spring prairies

SNOWY RANCHLANDS NEAR COCHRANE, ALBERTA

A spring snowfall had me on the road in this western Canadian province, looking for compelling snowy landscapes. I liked the distant scene, but knew I’d need something in the foreground to spread visual interest throughout the photo.
So I kept driving until finding this snow-covered fence and golden grasses. Now, there’s something interesting close-up to balance the distant beauty.
