Natural landscapes: in the world of boulders

RED ROCK COULEE, NEAR MEDICINE HAT, ALBERTA

This is an amazing place. Giant red boulders are scattered everywhere, some mostly whole but many in various states of breakdown. It’s as if God played a game of marbles here a thousand years ago, then left the marbles behind.
What I like about this spot (besides the extraordinary photo opportunities, of course) is there’s pretty much no development — no gift shop and not even a washroom. It’s just you and the breathtaking prairies of western Canada. And a whole bunch of amazing boulders.
