Urban landscapes: reflecting the streetlights

POND AT DUSK, CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA

While driving along Stoney Trail (a ‘ring road’ highway that goes around most of this city), I noticed how the streetlights were reflected in the still pond at one of the highway exits. So I returned to this spot and made several long exposure pictures, always waiting for cars to go past on the road (or the exit) to capture light trails. Kinda different, eh?

  1. It’s such a simple image at first glance, but the more I look the more satisfying I find it. The element of symmetry, the flow of the image, the stars in the sky contrasting with the gently elongated lozenge-shaped reflections and the deep, deep blue. It’s a great image, Frank.
